Mt. Norikura Hiking Guide: Buses to Tatamidaira, Fares, Seasons and the Route to Kengamine (2026)
Mt. Norikura (3,026 m) is one of the easiest 3,000 m peaks in Japan: buses climb to Tatamidaira at 2,702 m, and Kengamine is about 1 hour 30 minutes on foot. Bus seasons, fares, the late-October timetable and what to know before you go, based on official operator information.
This guide is based on information from Nohi Bus, Alpico Kotsu, the Norikura Kogen tourism association and Nagano Prefecture, checked October 24, 2026. Timetables and fares change every season, so check the operator pages before you travel.
Mt. Norikura (3,026 m) straddles Gifu and Nagano prefectures and is one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Private cars are banned on the roads to the top, but shuttle buses run all the way to Tatamidaira (2,702 m), so the summit, Kengamine, is only about 1 hour 30 minutes on foot from the bus terminal.
